NC EAST SANDLOT PROGRAM

Program Overview:

The NC East Sandlot Program will offer local tournaments designed for players in the following age groups:

  • 11-12 year olds

  • 13-14 year olds

  • 15-HSU players

While these age groups are ideal, there is some flexibility depending on player needs and availability. Our primary goal is to provide reps for players to develop in areas they may not typically get to focus on—especially positions that need improvement.

Key Features:

  • Position Flexibility: Players will rotate through multiple positions during games, with no player remaining in the same position for more than two innings. This gives players a chance to develop new skills and grow as versatile athletes.

  • Pitch Count Limits: We will be implementing pitch count limits to ensure players stay fresh and healthy throughout the tournaments.

  • Development-Focused Play: The Sandlot Program is all about player development. Players are encouraged to take risks, make mistakes, and grow through hands-on experience. It's a space where it’s okay to make five errors in a row, because the focus is on learning and improving, not winning at all costs.

  • Coaching Opportunities: This program also provides an excellent opportunity for assistant coaches to get their feet wet in a head coaching role, helping them grow as leaders and develop their coaching skills.

  • First-Come, First-Serve Sign-Up: Each tournament will have a 10-player roster available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Specific dates for sign-ups will be provided soon, so be sure to mark your calendars!

Why Sandlot?

The Sandlot Program is designed to take the pressure off both players and coaches. During traditional tournaments, coaches often feel the need to prioritize winning, which can limit players' opportunities to try new positions and expand their skills. In contrast, the Sandlot Program allows for greater flexibility, enabling players to experiment and learn without the constraints of a competitive game setting.

We’re excited to offer this unique development opportunity, and we hope that it helps our players become well-rounded athletes with a broader understanding of the game.

If you have any questions or need more information, please feel free to reach out. We look forward to seeing your player thrive in this new program!
